![]() It compliments the look of my truck perfectly and incorporated design ques of the SRT look into the classic '98-03 Dakota R/T body. I am very pleased with the SRT-10 Viper wheel. I have worked on a solution to get the same results for nearly half this price in a 20inch wheel to boot. Total = $4860 (too much for the wheels, in my opinion) SPECIAL SALE 2013-17 SRT Viper Rattler 5-Spoke Matte Black Aluminum Wheels, 550 Each 550.00 details 000 1996 - 1998 Dodge Viper Silver 17' Aluminum Front Wheel - 0MC25PAK 549.99 details 009 2013 SRT Viper Rattler 5-Spoke Matte Black Aluminum Wheel REAR 1wl88rxfaa 1wl88rxfab 525. So what does this all cost? I collected the wheels slowly over time, and kept the price under $600/wheel. It is affordable and has a nice tread pattern. The stock tire was 255/55R17 with a 28.0inch rolling diameter. This is personal preference, but I am a stickler on rolling diameters not being undersized or too oversize, and the width not being too narrow causing ballooning, or too wide causing tire buldge. I found that the 2008 Dodge Charger RT center cap works well if you remove the spring retainer clip internally, and pre-bend the tabs by hand to allow the caps to seat in by hand. You can use the Viper center caps, but I didn't want to mix the branding up. You can use either the factory Viper lug nuts, which are stainless steel capped lugs, or chrome aftermarket 1/2-20 x 1-1/4in long. So beware - you may get burned on used sight unseen or ebay. A lot of people won't give this to you because they are warped and they sell them as is, buyer beware. If you can choose to buy a set second hand, try to get a written guarantee the wheels are not warped. Street price as of 2008 is $900-1200/wheel including core charge. Try to find these either reconditioned with warranty. As I understand, wheel studs are made for clamping, not sheer loads. I can't comment on its safety, other than to say I would not run it on my truck or recommend lug-centric set-ups to anyone. Many aftermarket wheels, brake kits and wheel adapters are lug-centric. Importantly, they are Hub-Centric, as factory, so the load on the wheel is translated to the wheel spindle through the hub versus the lug. These adapters are high quality and come with a product warranty (unlike a lot of stuff on ebay). Using an H&R Springs 30mm wheel adapter kit ($170/kit, 2 kits required/truck = $340) for Viper will place the wheel at the correct offset for full steering travel. How to Install SRT-10 front wheels on a Dakota The Viper front wheel will hit the control arms under full turns lock condition. The Viper front wheel is 10inches wide, with a 25mm offset. The factory 17inch R/T wheel is 9inch wide, with a 25mm offset. For the Dakota, I used four 18x10 front wheels all around. It is lightweight, and comes in 18x10 front, and 19x13 rear. The 2003-2008 Viper SRT-10 wheel is a high quality polished aluminum wheel that has the correct 6x4.5 bolt pattern for the 1997-2004 Dakota. I've had several inquires asking how I put Viper SRT-10 wheels on my Dakota R/T, so I will explain how to do this in case others want to do the same.

Session man Spooner Oldham was fiddling around with a five-note riff on a Wurlitzer electronic piano. When the song was recorded, he was working as a hospital orderly.įranklin, aged 24, was at a grand piano in FAME’s wood-panelled Studio A, trying to turn an idea into a song. The singer of what became a soul classic, When a Man Loves a Woman, was Percy Sledge. Atlantic picked her up and in early 1967 sent her to FAME Studios in Muscle Shoals, where a hard-charging wannabe impresario named Rick Hall had made his first No 1 hit the year before. ![]() "Muscle Shoals, being between those two places, has been able to combine those two styles into a real Southern rhythm and blues that was very appealing. The consequences would help define modern music, not only launching Franklin but sparking a feud in Muscle Shoals, Alabama, which started a wave of creativity that helped define music in the 1970s, bringing a stream of superstars to the cluster of four towns on the banks of the Tennessee river.īefore she was the Queen of Soul, Franklin had a false start, singing in quite a controlled way on poppy, jazzy releases for Columbia Records. "You can draw a triangle from Nashville to Memphis to Muscle Shoals, and while Nashville is the country center, Memphis is generally known as the blues center," Lair says. That sound is a blend of country, gospel and R & B, says Alabama Music Hall of Fame curator George Lair. "There is some soul in Alabama that you can't find in Los Angeles," Carter says. Seger liked the sound and kept it in the final song.Ĭlarence Carter, who has been recording in Muscle Shoals for nearly five decades, says there's a vibe in the town that he could never capture when he recorded in California. An engineer's mistake gave the song its distinctive da-da-da intro. Detroit rocker Bob Seger's signature song - "Old Time Rock 'n' Roll" - began as a demo tape at the Muscle Shoals Sound Studio. "And it's a lot more laid back than any other music center in the country."Īrtists from outside the South also found their sound there. "I think they just got funkier records here than they did anywhere else," says Fame studio president Rodney Hall. ![]() But the music kept the stars coming, and in its heyday in the mid-70s, the area was home to eight studios. Muscle Shoals seemed an unlikely place for a celebrity crowd: the nicest hotel was a Holiday Inn, and sometimes the area's studios would put artists up in mobile homes at the local trailer park. That was 1961's "You Better Move On," by local bellhop Arthur Alexander, and it was the first of a string of R&B hits recorded there by such artists as Aretha Franklin, Wilson Pickett and Clarence Carter. In fact, that sound was already developing in Muscle Shoals at a studio called Fame - the first studio in the region to cut a hit record. And then after a bit we thought, 'Heck, why not?'" "And we all thought that was just the funniest thing. "There was a Motown sound, there was a Nashville sound, there was a Memphis sound, and I said, 'Muscle Shoals Sound,'" Hood tells NPR's Debbie Elliott. David Hood, the group's bass guitarist and studio co-founder, says the studio's name was a joke of sorts. In 1969, four local session players known as the Muscle Shoals Rhythm Section decided to open up their own recording studio. The Muscle Shoals Sound Studio was a recording mecca for rhythm and blues, rock and pop artists in the '60s and '70s. In an obscure northwest corner of Alabama, a little-known piece of music history is up for sale. When you hear Rhone, you probably think of red wine. The deep yellow juice delivers bold, sweet, nutty aromas and takes hold of your palate with with nutty, maple syrupy, spicy curry-like flavors. This strange wine comes in a squat bottle that holds 620ml, which represents the amount of fermented wine leftover from a liter of pressed juice. After bottling it will remain fresh for 10-20 years or much longer. Vin Jaune is made from Savagnin grapes, and vinified in an oxidative style for a minimum of six years. You probably don’t want to serve this to your Chardonnay loving mother-in-law (or do you?). Just like White Rioja it’s high on the, geeky, hipster-sommelier swigging scale. ![]() The remote, miniscule Jura region in France delivers a white wine called Vin Jaune. Here’s one for adventurous types who enjoy diaper-pail-smelling cheese, postmodern literature, and extreme body piercing. These wines are known for developing lots of nutty and oxidative flavors of grilled pineapple caramel, honey, hazelnut and smoky oak. It shows a drastically different side compared to its unoaked, made-for-early-enjoyment “Joven” sibling. They follow the same strict classification sytem of Rioja, and a Grand Reserva Rioja Blanca spends around six months in oak and four years aging. This is some geeky stuff. White Rioja is traditionally known for its old-school, oxidative style that makes it sort of an acquired taste. It only accounts for 10% of Rioja’s production, so it’s not exactly easy to find. Wines from the Côte de Beaune region (specifically Meursault, Chassagne-Montrachet and Puligny-Montrachet) take on a fleshy, creamy style thanks to the warmer weather and preference for oak aging. Chablis has a colder climate and limestone soil that infuses the wines with a rippling, age-defying acidity and briny minerality. Many Premier Cru and most Grand Crus make for the best choice, and you should look to the Côte de Beaune and Chablis if longevity is your aim. Some people like to wait 20-30+ years before opening a bottle, although oxidation seems a common nuisance as they age. Wait 5-10 years and you might find it entered a completely new dimension. New World Chardonnay is generally best when young, but good White Burgundy is a whole different story. One of the most unique aspects of an aged Riesling is the development of a petroleum/kerosene aroma and flavor that some people absolutely love. Thanks to its bright acidity, a quality dry version can rest easy for 10-20 years or more, while a semi-dry or sweet Riesling can easily push 20-30+ years. Riesling makes a strong case for offering the most dynamic and interesting evolution with time. Expect more focused honey, nutty, and sweet lemon creme flavors to stand out with age. The best vintages bring high acid and sugar levels, along with low water content and unique acids from the botrytized grapes. If you want something to gift a grandchild, Sauternes might be your best bet. Some of the very best examples can age gracefully for decades. Heck, some collectors of Chateau Haut Brion swear that the Haut Brion Blanc is more ageworthy than their First Growth Red. Stick to higher end producers from Pessac-Leognan, which can show their best side after 3-5 years. White Bordeaux is made from Semillon and Sauvignon Blanc, sometimes with a little Muscadelle and Sauvignon Gris added in the blend. It’s often aged in oak which can lend more phenolic compounds that help preserve it longer. Savenierres often brings high alcohol and high acidity, two key components that help it age well. Dry Chenin Blanc can remain in the cellar for 10 years, while the sweeter Vouvray Moelleux can easily be kept for decades, a lifetime even. In particular, Vouvray from the Touraine region and its pumped up brother Savenierres from the Anjou of the Loire Valley make excellent choices. Over time they can evolve dramatically, developing much richer notes of stone fruit, honey, straw, beeswax and other darker notes – think earthy, truffles, and roasted coffee. ![]() Some whites, like a Mosel Riesling for example, might start out with gentle, almost imperceptible aromas. Though, this mission could also just have easily been a mission about Quiet. That mission list, by the way, has a mission late in the game called "Beauty of the Battlefield", which could be a prime candidate for the mission that would have introduced a young Sniper Wolf, and the fact that it takes place during a chapter called "The Cost of Revenge" could also be appropriate to Sniper Wolf's story. If early rumors of the mission list are true, then the game wasn't nearly as far along as we think. But if the game is truly unfinished, and whole chapters hadn't even been developed yet, then it's possible that such casting simply hadn't happened yet. IMDB does list some voice actresses for various soldier roles, but no young girls other than Paz's voice (from Tara Strong). ![]() But as far as I know, nobody has found assets for any character model or dialogue from any one who could qualify as a young Sniper Wolf. I would expect that if a young Sniper Wolf had been planned, then Kojima would have already cast a voice and mo-cap artist. Kojima may not have had time to finish this mission, and so Quiet's alternate outfit model was used instead, and Quiet's duel mission became a place-holder. So her backstory is actually a near perfect match for an appearance in Phantom Pain! Maybe Iraq was supposed to be a third area of operations? Mission 40 could have been intended to be a mission in which the player finds a young sniper wolf, engages her in battle to test her ability, and then captures and recruits her. Sniper Wolf was born in Iraq, and she grew up amongst military conflict, she moved around the Middle East and Africa frequently to avoid the authorities, and she was eventually rescued from that life by Big Boss. Quiet even wears this uniform during the battle. Is this a simple fan-service Easter Egg? Or was Mission 40 supposed to be a battle with a young Sniper Wolf that would establish how Eli and Sniper Wolf first met? Secondly, completing the mission awards the player with a Handerchief item that allows Quiet to be equipped with the Sniper Wolf outfit. She's wearing a jumper - Sniper Wolf's jumper from Metal Gear Solid 1. The first is that Quiet isn't wearing her regular bikini outfit. But there's two interesting things about mission 40 that make it stand out. All the repeat missions in chapter 2 are reproduced verbatim from the original mission, right down to the bookending cutscenes (even though they make absolutely no narrative sense). ![]() It's a repeat of the sniper battle with Quiet, complete with the same mission briefing and even repeating the cutscene of Quiet shooting down the pursuing plane on the way back to Mother Base. It's a repeat of mission 11: "Cloaked In Silence". With that in mind, let's take another look at mission 40. Obtaining Sniper Wolf's handerchief from the retread of "Cloaked In Silence" unlocks the Sniper Wolf costume. ![]() get (category, "Securable", true, comment) īlockMachine.enableClassicRecipes = ThermalExpansion.CONFIG. getConfiguration ().getBoolean( "OpsCanAccessSecureBlocksWarning", category, enableOpSecureAccessWarning, comment) ĮnableSecurity = ThermalExpansion.CONFIG. getConfiguration ().getBoolean( "Displa圜ontainedItemsAsStackCount", category, StringHelper.displayStackCount, comment) Ĭomment = "If TRUE, a warning will display if Ops have access to \"secure\" blocks upon logging on to a server." Head over to to see more features or download a copy for your particular flavor of operating system. Perhaps with a little time and some proper feedback, Twitter will remake their version of Tweetdeck into what it used to be with some polish and new features. Despite these little issues, I find Janetter to be a great replacement overall for the Client Formerly Known As Tweetdeck for those of you that miss the old version but can’t bring yourself to install what Twitter released a very “1.0 product”. The default user interface is a bit of a trainwreck (I recommend the Deep Sea theme). As well, sometimes I get random tweets that were read being marked as unread. The auto scrolling is a bit buggy sometimes. Keeping up with a large volume of tweets can be cumbersome if you step away from the keyboard. That’s not to say there aren’t a couple of caveats. I started using it as my Windows client full time and I use the Mac version when I need to monitor hashtags. Throw in in-line image previews and the ability to translate highlighted phrases and you see that there’s a lot here to utilize. Support for multiple accounts, multiple columns, lists, and filtering/muting make it just as useful as the old Tweetdeck. This also means that the interface is fully skinnable with HTML5 and CSS. It even looks like the old Tweetdeck! It uses the Chromium rendering engine (Webkit on Mac) to display tweets. I was about to give up hope when Matthew Norwood ( mentioned that he’d been using a new client. I wanted a new client but I wanted it to be like the old Tweetdeck. Plus, I knew that I would eventually be forced to upgrade if Twitter released a killer new feature. I’d rather have an old client that works than a newer broken client.Īs the weeks passed, I realized that Tweetdeck Air was having a few issues. All in all, it took me about a day to delete the 1.0 app from my computer and go back to the version 0.38 Air app. ![]() The interface defaulted to using “real” names instead of Twitter handles. Pieces of critical information, like date and time of tweets was gone. That was probably the only good thing about it. Gone was the dependency on Adobe Air, instead using HTML5. About six months later, Twitter released Tweetdeck 1.0, and increase from Tweetdeck’s last version of 0.38.2. Twitter took their time consolidating the development team and updating Tweetdeck as they saw fit. I liked the interface in the iPhone and hoped that Twitter would pour some development into Tweetdeck and turn it into the official cross-platform client for power users. The last time this happened, Twitter turned the Tweetie client for iPhone and Mac into the official client for those platforms. Last May, Twitter purchased Tweetdeck for about $40 million. It was the first application I launched in the morning and the last I closed at night. It was the only reason I installed Adobe Air on my desktop and laptop. So it was that I became a regular user of Tweetdeck. This last feature was the most attractive to me when attending Tech Field Day events, as I tend to monitor the event hashtag closely for questions and comments. Also very useful to me was the multiple column layout, which allowed me to keep track of my timeline, mentions, and hashtag searches. The ability to manage lists and segregate users into classifications was very useful for those that follow a very eclectic group of Twitterers. For a long while, the de facto client for Windows was Tweetdeck. Once I became a regular Twitter user, I abandoned the web interface and instead started using a client. |
